LS crankshafts have no bolt holding the balancer on during installation, so there is nothing to draw it into place with and no safe way to drive it. This tool threads into the crank snout and pulls the balancer on squarely using a nut and thrust bearing, which is the only way to fit one without risking the crank or the balancer.
