• Torque-to-Yield (TTY) head bolts are a one-time-use fastener — once torqued down, they've been intentionally stretched beyond the point of no return. That permanent stretch is exactly what creates the clamping force holding your head gasket in place, but it also means the bolt is spent. Try to reuse it, and you're gambling on a fastener that's already been pushed past its limit.
