At the opposite end of the crankshaft from the balancer is the flexplate, which connects the engine to the automatic transmission through the torque converter assembly. Flexplates help transfer power from the engine to the wheels. Chevrolet Performance offers both internally and externally balanced Chevy flexplates. It is critical that you use the correct design for your specific engine application. Engines with one-piece crankshaft seals require externally balanced flexplates (except for ZZ427, ZZ572/620, ZZ572/720R and the Anniversary Edition 427).
