AFR's Ultimate SBC Head
with Standard Valve and Stud Locations!
AFR is reviving their popular 220cc powerhouse due to overwhelming request from customers for a larger bolt on standard valve location head. Unlike the previous 220, the new Eliminator version requires no special parts. Valves and studs are in stock GM L98 locations just like the 180cc, 195cc, and 210cc series cylinder heads. These cylinder heads do not require offset rockers of any kind, yet they are still able to easily flow numbers that are in raised runner head territory. The Competition Package Race Ready CNC Porting Eliminator Head flows 329 CFM which is enough airflow to reach that elusive 700 HP mark in aggressive drag race trim while allowing you to retain all of your standard valvetrain components.

Displacement ranging from a high RPM 350-427ci with naturally aspirated applications in the various sportsman classes, bracket/drag cars, oval track, and larger displacement street machines with typical operating ranges between 4000 to 8000 RPM depending on application. Getting this much flow from a stock geometry 23° head is an extremely impressive accomplishment. As always they come with AFR's trademark 3/4'' thick head deck (ideal for nitrous or blower applications). Standard valves are lightweight 8mm diameter stem, 2.100'' intake and 1.600'' exhaust with AFR's hardened ductile iron interlocking seats. Dual valve cover bolt pattern is standard. Exhaust port and bolt pattern are raised .250'' (1/4'') over GM L98, this rarely affects header or chassis fitment. These 220cc aluminum cyilnder heads are available in either standard port or spread port exhaust configurations. Spread port heads have the center exhaust ports spread apart 5/8'' over stock L98 GM heads. The reason for spread port heads is to achieve additional cooling in the center of the head where the heat concentration is greatest. As standard headers do not fit, spread port headers are required since the center ports are spread further apart then stock GM products. The increased spacing on the exhaust port also requires the use of exhaust gasket Fel-Pro p/n 375-1409. Spread port heads only come with a Stahl bolt pattern. AFR's spread port head has all the benefits and features of AFR's standard head.220cc Eliminator Race Cylinder Head Features:

The AFR 220cc Eliminator Race heads are built for serious performance — engineered to deliver maximum airflow, hardware reliability, and racing durability all in one package. Designed for high-RPM competition use, these heads offer race-level efficiency and power potential while retaining practical features for advanced builds.
These heads boast 100% CNC-ported intake, exhaust, and combustion surfaces in high-quality A356 aluminum castings — optimizing flow consistency from cylinder to cylinder. With intake runner capacity at 220 cc and matched combustion chambers (65 cc or 75 cc options), they unlock airflow figures upward of 329 CFM — airflow capable of supporting builds pushing into the 700 HP range.
Valve train readiness is baked in. The heads come fully assembled with premium hardware including PAC solid dual springs (capable of .710″ lift), adjustable guide plates, hardened seats, ARP rocker studs, and bead-lock retainers — eliminating the hassle of sourcing suitable parts. Intake valves are 2.100″ (8 mm) and exhaust are 1.600″, engineered for strength, clearance, and durability under high-lift cams.
Further enhancing performance potential: the deck thickness is a stout ¾″, making it well-suited for forced induction, nitrous, or boosted applications. Because AFR locates the valves in standard positions, these heads work with conventional rocker arms and common valvetrain geometry — no exotic offsets needed.
If you're building a high-strung race motor, bracket car, or pro-street beast, these afr 220 sbc heads deliver the airflow, strength, and compatibility your high-performance engine requires. Don’t limit your build — upgrade to sbc afr 220 heads and give your bottom end the elite airflow platform it deserves.
